Independent pre-purchase used-car inspection service
Is the demand real?
Buying a used car privately carries real fear of hidden faults, and a neutral expert inspection before purchase is genuinely valuable. The problem is that Switzerland already routes this need through two strong incumbents: the mandatory periodic MFK roadworthiness test gives buyers a baseline trust signal, and TCS, the dominant motoring club, offers established pre-purchase inspections that most buyers already know and trust. An independent must educate buyers that they need an extra inspection, then beat a household-name club on trust, which is a hard, low-frequency sale with a thin addressable pool per buyer.
Growing or fading?
Used-car volume is steady, but the MFK and TCS incumbents anchor buyer behaviour and there is no rising tide pulling buyers toward a new independent option.
